Spring Retail Therapy. . .

Once all the Christmas decor is packed neatly away On Crooked Creek,
it's time for some retail therapy! Spring Retail Therapy!

First,
I removed the faux pine boughs and pine cones from my wall sconces.
Needing something fresh to place within my wrought iron wall sconces,
I made a trip to the 50% off floral $ale @ Hobby Lobby!

I found these faux silk white flora which remind me of dogwood blossoms!
Combined with the faux green budding branches and the blue bramble berries,
I was thrilled with how this arrangement compliments one of my favorite prints from Home Interiors.

Look closely at the Wintry Forest Scene of the Home Interior print.
This print contains 5 'hidden' wolves faces. Do you see one through the glass?
Isn't that the cutest black 'button nose' e v e r?

Previously,
I had brown velvet with lace ribbon rosettes in lumbar pillows on my velvet chairs.

I am loving all the texture, pattern and the subtle chambray blue hue
in the design style of these two matching lumbar pillows found at my local Target!

New flora and new lumbar pillows were just the refreshment my Living Room

On Crooked Creek needed to bring about my personal desires and taste.

Also,
on my shopping list. . .white tulips!

All I can say,
is that I am obsessed with the loveliness of this hue for tulips in 2020!

Bringing about a few Spring changes to On Crooked Creek's
Entertainment Center is all about my love for birds!

Atop the Entertainment,
I borrowed my two green pottery urns from the Family Room
and paired them with a flora bird's nest stem and mourning doves.

The mourning doves are perched atop some cherry branches
"Mr. Ed" cut in the Autumn of 2019. I had him glue white felt to the bottoms
of the branches so that when I place them on our furniture, they don't scratch.

Next,
I tucked in a few bird's nest and added a new flora wreath for softness
and texture within the Entertainment Center.

Also, within On Crooked Creek's Entertainment Center, rests my stereo.
I l o v e listening to Classical Instrumental Music throughout my day!

But,
I despise those h u g e silver and black speakers that set within the open shelf !

Oh, my. . .
it was pure joy when I found the perfect size and design corbels
at The Vintage Rhinestone owned by my friend, Sherry Edson Smith!
These corbels are something I've been 'on~the~hunt' for quite some time!

On Crooked Creek,
it was definitely time for some retail therapy!

Refreshing The Home Office. . .

Reflecting our own personal needs
has been one of the changes taking place in 2020 On Crooked Creek.

This past week,
I spent some much needed time refreshing our Home Office.

Much has changed since we the 2017 switch of the  Guest Room
for the Home Office space. . . including the purchase of a new bookshelf.

2017 brought the need for a two~shelf bookcase 

to hold our 3~ring business binders, dictionary,
thesaurus and educational materials.

In July of 2019,
I attended Stephen Leader Training Course in Dallas, Texas.

Upon returning,
I realized I needed another bookcase to hold all of my educational resources.

Both bookcases were purchased at our local Target;
however, they (purposely) are in different hues.

If, at some time in our near future, we should make a change of location,
one could be placed within another area for another purpose.

An example,
our matching bedside table is now being used as a printer table.
I'm hoping our future Master Bedroom will be large enough
to accommodate both our bedside tables on either side of the bed frame.

Here's an overview of the furniture arrangement
in On Crooked Creek's Home Office as you enter from the East Wing hallway.

The opposite wall, which sets within an alcove,
was the perfect placement for "Mr. Ed's" desk and hutch.

"Mr. Ed's" desk was purchased in the 1970's,
during his Military service years, so that he could work at home.

The hutch portion was made in the 1990's,
by our son while he attended High School Shop Class.

The decorator within me enjoys creating vignettes within the open shelving.

Refreshing On Crooked Creek's Home Office
now reflects our personal needs by allowing both "Mr. Ed" and I
to co~exist within the same space while keeping in our own areas
to accomplish the needs of the day.

A Crooked Creek Christmas. . .Kitchen

Our 1970's Galley Style Kitchen
has never been my 'ideal' Kitchen lay~out.

But in the nearly 17 years that "Mr. Ed" and I have resided
On Crooked Creek, we've tried to embrace it's character.

A 2019 Crooked Creek Christmas Kitchen
is a blending of Timeless Classic and a touch of whimsy!

I absolutely adore this faux evergreen swag 
in a Timeless Classic design with black and white check bow and silver bells!

I had the winning bid during our Church Silent Auction a few years ago,
and this parfait glass woolen felted Snowman has resided in our
Christmas Kitchen decor ever since!

I think he looks quite adorable at our Coffee / Tea Station!

This petite Kitchen Angel makes her annual appearance
at our kitchen sink every year.

Although she is made of plastic,
she was my Christmas gift from our son during his early Elementary years.
Priceless!

Fast forward,
same son Christmas gift to "Mr.Ed" upon our arrival On Crooked Creek.

Usually,
these NOEL Black Bears find themselves in On Crooked Creek's Family Room.

However,
this year, they flank the top of our cook top range.

This miniature faux evergreen Christmas Tree
with its rustic star is in keeping our neutral and natural theme.

Just around the corner of our Galley Style Kitchen
is a built ~ in china cabinet that adjoins On Crooked Creek's 

Dining Room and Living Room.

The perfect place for our Snowman Hot Cocoa Bar!

During an 'After Christmas $ale',
I found these three ornaments and had to purcha$e them!

My vintage white urns holding these faux evergreen trees is the perfect placement
for another touch of whimsy within On Crooked Creek's Kitchen.

The peppermint candy canes make the most delicious hot cocoa stirrers!

The vintage tin Snowman holds miniature Lego pieces
that make a miniature Santa Claus.

I spread a bit of mercury glass within this design
in the candy cane holder and the rope handled lantern.

I've purchased Snowmen marshmallows at our local Target
to float atop our cups of steaming Hot Cocoa for Christmas Eve.

While shopping at our local Paramount Antique Mall,
I came across this FA LA LA LA LA. . .la la la la sign
and there was no doubt in my mind
that this had to accompany my FA LA LA ornaments!

The green bottle brush tree within the vintage door knob was in the same booth!

I tucked a few handmade blue scrapbook paper stars and banners

within the vintage white swirl ironstone creamers for some Christmas spirit.

So~o~o. . .
whether it's a Timeless Classic look
or a touch of whimsy. . .
this is our way of celebrating A Crooked Creek Christmas within our Kitchen.
