A Crooked Creek Christmas. . .Kitchen

Our 1970's Galley Style Kitchen
has never been my 'ideal' Kitchen lay~out.

But in the nearly 17 years that "Mr. Ed" and I have resided
On Crooked Creek, we've tried to embrace it's character.

A 2019 Crooked Creek Christmas Kitchen
is a blending of Timeless Classic and a touch of whimsy!

I absolutely adore this faux evergreen swag 
in a Timeless Classic design with black and white check bow and silver bells!

I had the winning bid during our Church Silent Auction a few years ago,
and this parfait glass woolen felted Snowman has resided in our
Christmas Kitchen decor ever since!

I think he looks quite adorable at our Coffee / Tea Station!

This petite Kitchen Angel makes her annual appearance
at our kitchen sink every year.

Although she is made of plastic,
she was my Christmas gift from our son during his early Elementary years.
Priceless!

Fast forward,
same son Christmas gift to "Mr.Ed" upon our arrival On Crooked Creek.

Usually,
these NOEL Black Bears find themselves in On Crooked Creek's Family Room.

However,
this year, they flank the top of our cook top range.

This miniature faux evergreen Christmas Tree
with its rustic star is in keeping our neutral and natural theme.

Just around the corner of our Galley Style Kitchen
is a built ~ in china cabinet that adjoins On Crooked Creek's 

Dining Room and Living Room.

The perfect place for our Snowman Hot Cocoa Bar!

During an 'After Christmas $ale',
I found these three ornaments and had to purcha$e them!

My vintage white urns holding these faux evergreen trees is the perfect placement
for another touch of whimsy within On Crooked Creek's Kitchen.

The peppermint candy canes make the most delicious hot cocoa stirrers!

The vintage tin Snowman holds miniature Lego pieces
that make a miniature Santa Claus.

I spread a bit of mercury glass within this design
in the candy cane holder and the rope handled lantern.

I've purchased Snowmen marshmallows at our local Target
to float atop our cups of steaming Hot Cocoa for Christmas Eve.

While shopping at our local Paramount Antique Mall,
I came across this FA LA LA LA LA. . .la la la la sign
and there was no doubt in my mind
that this had to accompany my FA LA LA ornaments!

The green bottle brush tree within the vintage door knob was in the same booth!

I tucked a few handmade blue scrapbook paper stars and banners

within the vintage white swirl ironstone creamers for some Christmas spirit.

So~o~o. . .
whether it's a Timeless Classic look
or a touch of whimsy. . .
this is our way of celebrating A Crooked Creek Christmas within our Kitchen.

A Crooked Creek Christmas. . .Dining Room

With visions of Christmas 2019 On Crooked Creek dancing within my brain,
I knew there would be Christmas Trees on the Dining Room table.

Shopping @ Boomland Square in early October,
turned this dancing within my brain into an amazing vision
of Christmas Trees, rustic Christmas Bells and Stars to reality
as the Dining Room table centerpiece On Crooked Creek.

Keeping with a neutral and natural color palette,
I am quite smitten with the rustic planters that I purchased
for my miniature faux evergreen Christmas Trees.

These wrought iron bells and stars are some of the most unique I've seen.

The Smell of The Tree Aromatique green votive candles

give a soft pine needle scent to the Dining Room, Living Room and Kitchen.

Using a neutral khaki hued linen tablecloth keeps the color palette neutral
and allows the Christmas trees to be the center of your focus.

While shopping @ Pier 1,
I found these amazing Christmas Tree laminate topped place mats!

I adore how the place mats compliment my centerpiece
and our everyday Hearth and Hand Magnolia dinnerware.

With "Mr. Ed's" help, natural hued wooden beaded garland

was strung on the burnished bronze chandelier
and accented with bronze rustic snowflakes.

Keeping the neutral and natural color palette theme throughout
On Crooked Creek's Dining Room was continued with faux pine boughs,
pine cones, my favorite Frosty Snowman
and rustic metal snowflakes hung from the ceiling.

Several years ago,

I placed some painter's cloth inside a wooden embroidery hoop,
and painted them white.

Once they were dry,
I painted snowman faces onto the white painter's cloth.

I then cut a backing of painter's cloth to match and stitched them together
leaving just enough opening to fill with stuffing.

Black buttons for eyes, a painted carrot nose
and a few X stitches give them the most adorable faces!

I call them Snowball Faces. . . and I l o v e them!

Continuing the neutral and nature color palette and theme
I chose a single sprig of faux evergreen and pine cones
to fill my crystal vase on my Silver Tray.

While my Mary Carol Garrity (aka. Nell Hill) Christmas dessert / salad plates
are taking a 'back seat' at our Dining Room table during On Crooked Creek's
festivities this year, I simply had to place them elsewhere within my design scheme.

One as a backdrop to my vintage heirloom silver teaspoons. . .
and three within my miniature plate rack leading into our
1970's Galley Style Kitchen!

Last year,
I made the white flannel stars for the wall scones.
I love them with a simplistic faux pine bough near our Garage Door.

As you enter through the Garage Door into On Crooked Creek's Dining Room,
one can sense the design throughout our upper level living areas.

As my favorite Frosty Snowman waves you away,
it is my hope that you will return soon,
as I continue to post A Crooked Creek Christmas
throughout our upper level living areas.

A Touch of Class. . .

Living in a 1970's Ranch Style House comes with numerous challenges.

One being my Galley Style Kitchen.

Having moved from a Farm Size, open, eat~in Kitchen to Galley Style
has kept me awake many a night trying to come to terms with my limitations.

With an entirely new color palette in February 2015,
"Mr. Ed" helped bring me to terms with the size limitation
of our 1970's Galley Style Kitchen.

While I will say my design style
is somewhere between Transitional and Traditional,
Timeless Classic Traditional works best
within On Crooked Creek's Galley Style Kitchen.

So~o~o. . .
This Spring,
I chose to update the on~site builders cabinetry with new hardware. 

Earlier in the updates,
"Mr. Ed" and I chose to spray paint the existing hardware black.

A Touch of Class has been added with the rimmed burnished brass exposure.

Several pieces of the hardware had to be ordered.

While I was patiently awaiting the missing pieces arrival,

"Mr. Ed" gave all the cabinetry a fresh coat of paint!

Although my 1970's Galley Style Kitchen still holds its size limitation,
adding new hardware has given it A Touch of Class!
