My Favorite Things. . .2019 August, Vol. 8

I am not an out~of~doors person.

I, also, am not a Gardener.

But, one of My Favorite Things On Crooked Creek
are the Container Gardens that I enjoy designing
and my Master Gardener, "Mr. Ed" enjoys planting!

Until a few years ago,
the Container Gardens On Crooked Creek were designed within terra cotta pots.

Much like the vintage soft buttery yellow pot featured here.

On Crooked Creek's Back Garden has great success with sweet potato vine.

Two yeas ago,
I began following  Unique by Design Landscaping & Containers in Edmond, Oklahoma and fell in love with their tall container designs.

Such a joy to find these two tall containers at a ridiculously reduced price
of $14.00 each at a nearby At Home Store!

Each Season,
I use plantings that I know will thrive in our dry, arid climate.

Sometimes,
I add Seasonal decor within and around the tall container planters.

This Spring,
On Crooked Creek, "Mr. Ed" has truly outdone himself
with my design for the tall planters, as well as his succulent garden planter.

This is where the planters began in April of this year. . .
and this is where we are in May & June 2019!

Yes!
I am already taking note of future designs
for a new 2020 planting season On Crooked Creek!

Causal Autumnal Dining. . .

"Mr. Ed" and I were l o n g overdue for some new dinnerware On Crooked Creek.

I am a Traditionalist at heart,
so deciding on everyday dinnerware is never an easy task.
There are far too may possibilities.

However,
when I opened my Magnolia Journal fall 2019 issue no. 12 / wholeness edition,
I was quite smitten with the perfectly imperfect ironstone dinnerware.

This Reactive Glaze Dinnerware Collection by Hearth & Hand
with Magnolia was not available at my local Target.

I spoke with a representative at Magnolia Market in Waco, TX.
whom sent me to a Target representative and found them at our Wichita location.

So~o~o. . .
a short Road Trip later. . .
I was setting a Casual Autumnal Tablescape
within On Crooked Creek's Dining Room!

I absolutely adore how the causal dinner and salad plates
combine with my linens, flatware and stemware!

The centerpiece was designed within "Mr. Ed's" gray box
using monochromatic hues of natural dried pods, sage green eucalyptus
with green and white faux pumpkins and white silk flora.

Autumn Jewelry Box Flora. . .

Once the temperature highs return to the 80's
and the back~to~school ads begin, I'm ready for the arrival of Autumn!

An Autumnal flora arrangement within the September issue
of Southern Lady filled me with inspiration
for On Crooked Creek's Entry Hall.

The console table is quite narrow,
so~o~o this vintage hinged lidded jewelry box was a perfect fit!

I adore how the pattern on the vintage jewelry box
compliments the swirls of my dresser scarf.

Using faux flora from my Autumn decor storage tub,
I created the arrangement in my creative space, Studio One.

The faux silk gingersnap roses make such a welcoming statement
to the arrival of a new Season and our family and guests that frequent our home.

Inspiration can be found in a variety of places;
cooler temperatures,
an Autumnal magazine,
and a vintage jewelry box.

Until next time. . .

My Favorite Things. . . 2019 July, Vol. 7

As I'm creating,
I often have the lyrics of a tune going through my head.

Today, the lyrics ,"If I were a Carpenter". . .
are harmoniously streaming through my mind.

Amazing "Mr. Ed" has made several Carpenter's boxes
which are featured for July as one of My Favorite Things!

This Carpenter's Box was quite the challenge for "Mr. Ed".

To get all the angles correct, before ever cutting any boards,
he first made a proto type of cardboard and duct tape.

Before the final assembly,
he used a router and made the spaces for plates inside the box.

I enjoy the festive fanfare side of my gray Carpenter's Box
as seen here using paper fans and U. S. American Flags for Fourth of July!

It matters not which Season of the year I chose,
this gray Carpenter's Box is quite the show stopper
as you can see when all decked out for Christmas On Crooked Creek.

I use my square Carpenter's Box mainly on the upper living level,
I find that my rectangular Carpenter's Box works amazingly well
in our lower level Family Room On Crooked Creek.

Featuring "Mr. Ed's" fly fishing dinnerware,
I created this Autumnal Carpenter's Box with a fresh flair of Autumns cool breezes
in the anticipation of our upcoming Annual Trout Fishing Trip.

Within On Crooked Creek's designs, I prefer subtle tones of the Seasons.

Christmas On Crooked Creek is one of my most decorative times of the Year!

Hardly a surface exists that isn't transformed into the Celebration of Christmas!

From the Family Room Dining Table. . .

to the Family Room Coffee Table. . .

Oh, yes. . .
On Crooked Creek, "Mr. Ed" is a Carpenter!

. . .  and, I am his lady!

Until next time. . .
