Bringing About Changes. . .

2020 will bring about some h u g e changes On Crooked Creek.

"Mr. Ed" and I are not trying to re~establish
(or re~decorate) every inch of our 1970's Ranch Style Home in this New Year.

But, rather bring about changes to our home
that truly reflect our personal desires, tastes and needs.

Over the past decades,
we accumulated and collected w a y to much 'stuff'!

So~o~o. . .
2020 will find us continuing to edit, edit, edit.

By removing all those unnecessary things we've acquired
will allow us the freedom to make enhanced choices in our interior home design.

Last year,
I posted several months of My Favorite Things.

By creating these posts,
I realized I have kept an enormous amount of 'stuff'
that no longer appeals to me.

My creative space, Studio One,
along with our Family Room had become filled to the brim with 'cast~offs'.

One thing that will remain the same On Crooked Creek
will be my continued creating and designing
Seasonal Changes throughout the New Year.

It is my hope that you will see fresh ideas to use within your own home decor
in ways that, perhaps, you hadn't thought of in the past.

Also,
I will encourage you to take a 'close~up' look
at the things you truly love and those you've held onto out of obligation.

A Crooked Creek Christmas. . .

Christmas 2019 On Crooked Creek has taken on a more simplified appearance.

It would appear my 'ladder climbing days' will, in the near future,
become a 'thing of the past'. I've found that my degenerative arthritis
has progressed greatly in my spine and is causing limitations to movement.

Informing you, my family, friends and followers,
now makes this Christmas 'extra special' and I purposely chose
to begin my Christmas posts with the design atop my four drawer dresser.

The ' thrill of hope' flooded over my soul when I happened upon this
figurine of The Holy Family while shopping during our
Annual Trout Fishing Trip @ Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon, MO.

I chose to use many of my favorite Christmas hymns
to surround this vignette in the keeping of the true meaning of the Season.

An evergreen wreath at the base of The Holy Family
sits atop and disguises a paper yellow pages directory
giving the needed height.

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear,
O Little Town of Bethlehem, Silent Night
and While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night
fill the box and the top of the dresser.

The added petite cylinder lights remind me of the Candlelight Service
"Mr. Ed" and I attend each year.

As we sing the last verse,
the entire congregation raises our lit single candles
illuminating the entire Sanctuary with the light of Christ.

A Crooked Creek Christmas holding the precious meaning of this
holiest of Seasons, sends a thrill of hope to my very soul
that Christmas future will allow me to continue to decorate
our 1970's Ranch Style Home with all the design flair as I have in the past.

"Do not be afraid". . .found within the second chapter of the gospel of Luke
was read with such peace as I began the Luke Challenge December 1st.

As I chose my Word for 2019. . .
I did not want to choose the word hope.

Trusting God,
I obeyed . . . and now, I know in full what I had previously known in part.

Hope. . ."The Lord is my portion", says my soul,
"therefore I will hope in him." Lamentations 3:24

May your hearts, minds and souls
be filled with the hope, peace, love and joy this Christmas.

Fifty Years and Holding. . .

. . .and they said it wouldn't last!

I, a City Girl.
He, a Country Boy.

He was down to earth.
I had my head in the clouds.

We were far too young.
Often referred to as the Baby Bride and Groom.

We didn't have employment.
What would we live on?

But last, it has.
Today, we celebrate Fifty Years!

When his employment took us around the World,
my City Girl knowledge and his Country Boy morals
helped us survive the unknown places where we would reside.

We managed to 'grow~up' with each other.

Although he is still down to earth,
through his devoted work ethics and commitment
combined with my ability to dream big dreams,
together we achieved the heights in our life that others didn't think possible.

Just a Country Boy
and a City Girl, holding on to one another.

Oh, Happy Day!

What I thought was lost,

has now been found!

I am thrilled to be able to access

On Crooked Creek, once again!

Much like the Sunflower,
I was standing along the sidelines
trying to relocate access to my blog.

Thank you to my many friendships,
in The Land of Blog, for standing with me
through this past year and a half of disconnect.

Through it all,
your continued support
has lifted me to greater confidence in myself.

I can see clearly
the path that leads me back into blogging.

I look forward to re~joining this amazing community.

Oh, happy day!

Steppin' Out At Studio One!

On Crooked Creektt,
I'm a hopeless romantic with a love of all things vintage!

But recently,
in Studio One, I've been steppin' out of my comfort zone!

On Crooked Creektt, storms are ragging around us
and it's a dark and dreary day today.
One thing is a given. . .it's always Spring time in my creative space, Studio One.

So~o~o. . .
today, I began creating a "new design" that I can't get out of my head.

I'm using my Anna Griffin rubber stamps

and my favorite Color Box CHALK Archival Ink.

I adore CHALK ink because it dries quicker!

Before I stamped the tulip in a Charcoal hued ink,
I used an Anna Griffin 19 A BL Blue Ink
and went over all the surface of the plain white card stock.

I was pleased with the outcome
and quickly added two more card fronts of the same.

Putting two of the tulip stamped card stock to the side,
I proceeded with the "prototype".

Next,
I placed my custom stamp on the back of the white card.

It reads A Pat Cantwell Creation @ STUDIO ONE.

Always, always for my Vintage Flair design line,
I use ivory colored cards and envelopes.

Step 1. . .of Steppin' Out of My Comfort Zone!

For the "prototype",
I used a parchment blue background card stock atop the white card front.

Then,
I placed the tulip atop the card stock securing it with four self adhesive foam dots.

I finished the card,
by adding a sheer organza white ribbon tied in my "signature short fat bow.

For my Vintage Flair cardline,
I use double~sided satin or French Silk ribbon.

Step 2. . .of Steppin' Out Of My Comfort Zone!

Before setting the newly "designed" card aside to dry,
I added an interior parchment blue card stock insert.

In the past,
I would have added a heart~felt sentiment to the inside.

Step 3. . .of Steppin' Out Of My Comfort Zone!

Now,
on to the matching envelope.

I love corresponding.

Sending out Christmas Cards is an annual event On Crooked Creektt.
And, I adore a interior lined envelope.

I try to add dimension to the front of the envelope to co~ordinate with the card.

However, this time, I opted for a flat envelope, instead.

Step 4. . .Steppin' Out Of My Comfort Zone!

Of course,
I have a plan for the two cards that are now drying in Studio One.

Fortunately, it involves "Mr. Ed's" carpentry skills before a final reveal.

"Mr. Ed" and I are working together on a "Silent Auction" Item
for our Annual Church Winterfest Bake $ale and Craft Fair .
All proceeds will go to support Missions!
