Warm Autumnal Welcome. . .

As I enter the upper level Living Room,
a Warm Autumnal Welcome. . .
is the feeling that comes over my being On Crooked Creektt.

Sunlight floods through the French patio doors from the Dining Room
making one feel as if they're wrapped in the warmth of a comforting quilt.
Which is near perfect, here on the Prairie,
as our weather begins its Autumnal change of "dreary days".

I love this vintage sewing machine cabinet!
An heirloom from my parents, it houses an Antique White Sewing Machine.
Folding a paisley throw into pleats disguises the sewing mechanism.

Like Mother. . .like daughter. . .
My MoMa didn't sew and I avoid sewing every chance I get!!!

Faux hue changing Aspen leaves have been randomly tucked
into a bird nested garland to make the Seasonal transition
from Spring~to~Summer~to ~Autumn!

I'm continually grateful that I didn't follow the urge
to paint my gilded golden hued birds white during the past Season
. . .or to take them to the local Thrift Shop!!!

They are a perfect pair of "go~to" accessory for my Traditional decor.

Another of my staple design elements is using vintage books.

As a retired Educator and former Librarian,
books have been and will continue to be an important part of my life.

On Crooked Creektt
you'll often find vintage books used as risers for accessories. . .
or to continue a cohesive color palette in my decor design.

I, especially, become overjoyed when I find sets,
or volumes, of vintage books at Antique Malls, Flea Markets or Garage $ales.
This set of The New Century Dictionary Volume One and Volume Two
were purchased years ago @ $5 for the pair!

Always on the search for one~of~a~kind finds,
I was thrilled to find this hand painted vintage vase @ Iron Star!
Filled with faux silk roses that resemble those grown
On Crooked Creektt Gardens, the Gingersnap hue radiates warmth.

Evident here in the choice of upholstery on our chairs
and in the pecan wood tones of the vintage sewing machine cabinet. . .
Autumn is my favorite Season of the year! ! !

Seasonal weather changes On Crooked Creektt
with a Warm Autumnal Welcome. . .

Until next time. . .

What a pretty vignette, Pat! I love the beautiful material and the birds are so nice. I am glad you saved them too. I just saw that we could get SNOW next week. I am hoping that does NOT happen. I am not ready for that yet:)

I'm with you on decorating the sewing machine instead of actually using it! Decorating is so much fun, sewing is not.

Looking good. Pat, and your writing is just so gracious, almost poetic! And before long, it will be time to work on Christmas!

Great Fall "no-sew" vignette. :)
So pretty, especially the antique vase with the roses. Thanks for letting me know about the urn in Holiday Cottage Magazine. I have the magazine, but haven't looked at it all. Thanks.

Pat, this is such a pretty vignette! Love the vintage books! My mom was an English teacher and librarian, as well. We just recently found LOTS of vintage books, in the storage room, that I can't wait to use as accessories!

Hello Pat! Fall is looking so pretty at your place. That beautiful sewing cabinet seems the perfect setting for a nice display. That's as good a use for it as any in my opinion! Haha! I don't sew much these days myself. I hope you're doing well dearie!
