Golden Hued Tablescape. . .

While the Summer rains continue here On Crooked Creektt,
I continue to bring a touch of Autumn to our dining room
with this golden hued tablescape.

One of my favorite blossoms from the garden
is that of a pumpkin blossom! 

This faux pumpkin blossom, in its previous life, was a swag.
Wanting to use this vibrant orange blossom in my centerpiece,
I took sections of the swag apart and used them as sprigs
inside a Terra Cotta clay pot and saucer.

My golden hued tablescape 
began with a soft, buttery yellow damask  circular tablecloth.
My Chili Pepper golden hued dinnerware rimmed in brown
rest atop orange floral scalloped quilted place mats. 

Our everyday beaded stainless flatware
and everyday clear bubble stemware 
keep a simplistic place setting for our daily meals.

The co~ordinating paisley print napkin

is gathered within a wooden napkin ring.

A golden hued cloth napkin, set on the diagonal,
further grounds the centerpiece 
and brings in a bit more of Autumns rich tones.

Beneath the centerpiece,
are two handmade star shaped trivets.
I purchased these at a Craft Fair Booth last Autumn.
They are perfect for sitting beneath a hot serving dish or platter.

The Summer shower has subsided for the moment.
Beyond the patio doors, 
the sun is shining brightly upon the Gardens On Crooked Creektt.

"Mr. Ed" was able to snap a few photos of the Pumpkin blossoms
from his experimental  Container Garden earlier this morning.

Once again,
Mother Nature has provided the inspiration for simplistic dining.

A Sprinkling of Autumn. . .

Rain sprinkling softly outside the patio doors
still colors my world On Crooked Creektt 
with scenes of lush green Gardens and landscape.

However, in the Dining Room,
there's a Sprinkling of Autumn taking place!

I do apologize for the glare of the Dining Room chandelier arm,
but I had no natural light during our sprinkling out~of~doors.

Two major changes made to the Dining Room buffet and hutch
were the elimination of the white background to the hutch 
and the adjusting of the buffet 
to match the angle of the Dining Room rug and table.

We'll begin with the Autumnal decor at the top of the hutch.

This is my view from the Galley Kitchen
 as I prepare our daily meals On Crooked Creektt!


Seldom, do I change these Anduze urns for other accessories atop the hutch.
I adore their hue, shape and style!

Beginning with a five strand golden and sage green with orange berries swag
I stripped the swag with three stands in one hand, two strands in the other.

I put the first three strands around the left Anduze urn
and maneuvered around the back, then along the front, 
trailing the berries and leaves alternatively 

in a drape across the top of the cabinet.

Using the two strands, I worked around the right oval Anduze urn
and maneuvered around the back, then along the front,
repeating the process until both strands met in the middle.

To fill the void, 
I placed two Autumnal hued silk leaf bushes between the Anduze urns.

Next, I inserted a knobby textured russet~orange pumpkin
atop a berry and star candle wreath to add a touch of Autumnal decor.

I am quite pleased with how well the hues of the swag,
leaf bushes and the pumpkin accentuate the warm paint color 
and the finish of the hutch.

Using these design accessories I already had:
*) One Golden and Sage Green Swag divided
*) Two Autumnal hued silk leaf bushes
*) A berry and star candle wreath
*) Knobby textured russet~orange pumpkin. . .
I created this simplistic Autumn vignette 
for On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room.

Moving down along the cabinet doors,
I hung this petite wreath adorned with miniature pumpkins,
orange pip berries, curling twigs and leaves on the pear knob.

Directly below, 
I placed this oil painting of a pineapple on velvet
on an easel and added an urn filled with dainty prairie flowers.

I adore how all the hues of this vignette
blend harmoniously with the vignette atop the hutch.

The buffet top continually showcases my heirloom silver Tea Service.

Once I had removed the white vine background paper,
I cleansed the back of the hutch and then applied a coat of 
Old English Scratch cover to bring out the natural beauty of the wood.

Having no space left in my built~in china cabinet,
I used two of my Celtic design plates as a backdrop for the Tea Service. 

A square quilted table topper, placed on an angle, 
protects the top of the buffet and grounds the color palette in this vignette.
For an additional Sprinkling of Autumnal hues,
I added the gold, orange and sage green tea towel to the silver tray.

These Green Leaf Majolica saucers atop a wrought iron pedestal
 are a subtle reminder that Summer is still in session On Crooked Creektt!

While the rain has continued the entire time,
I've enjoyed adding A Sprinkling of Autumn
to On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room buffet and hutch.

Perhaps I'll make a cup 'o tea
and enjoy this Sprinkling of Autumn
while I watch the rain softly sprinkling outside my patio door.

Family Room Update I. . .

I had no intention of re~arranging the lower level Family Room
On Crooked Creektt. . .honestly, I didn't!!!

But when we received nearly 7 inches of rain here on the Prairie,
which caused minimal water damage to the lower level Family Room, 
and furniture had to be moved away from the walls. . .
the wheels were already in motion, so to speak!

This was the view of the lower level Family Room 
as you descended from the stairs. 

In the past month,
I re~located this vintage chair to the upper level Living Room.
Something I'd been wanting to do for quite some time 
to accommodate guest and add extra seating.

This is the view of the lower level Family Room 
as we began to uncover and access the water damage.

So~o~o. . .
while "Mr. Ed" mopped up water. . .
wrung out the carpet padding. . .
and then, used the shop vacuum throughout the day,
I pulled out my inspirational source for our Family Room.

On Crooked Creektt, our Lower Level Family Room decor
combines "Mr. Ed's" love of the out~of ~doors fishing and hunting 
and fills my desire for an eclectic look inspired by Pottery Barn Catalog.

To clear the space,
I moved all the furniture into Studio One, my creative space,
while I vacuumed and began to measure for a new furniture lay~out.

I adore painter's tape for a multitude of purposes!!!

First, I mask~off the space to get a better visual 
of the angle needed for my idea piece of furniture.

I absolutely adore how my vintage chicken coop
turned red chicken wire cabinet fits beneath the bulkhead and fills this space!

Let's start the update with the vignette at the top of the cabinet.

Vintage heirloom crocks are usually always displayed atop this cabinet.
I used a book on the back crock to add height
and two sprigs of deep purple berries for visual interest.

The opposite side of this vintage vignette
showcases an heirloom butter churn, another crock and more berries.

Subtle hints of Autumnal decor
add a simplistic introduction as to the design 
of the lower level Family Room On Crooked Creektt.

Since the red chicken wire cabinet has been placed near the fireplace,
I've changed the vignettes inside to reflect its new intended purpose.

Within the interior of the cabinet
is a perfect place to add a touch of ambient lighting.

"Mr. Ed" is an avid Trout Fisherman!
Each year, our Annual Trout Fishing Trip to Bennett Spring State Park
is our personal couples retreat and vacation.

Many years ago, 
this Trout dinnerware set was his Christmas gift.

Although this is the second shelf of the cabinet,
the level of the shelf catches ones eye first.
Thus the vignette of "what is yet to come" has been artful arranged here.

Due to the weight of the dinnerware,
dividing it among the shelves assures one of an unforeseen disaster.

The bottom shelf is a hodgepodge of decor accessories
and "Mr. Ed's" Korean pots and pans.
Having served three unaccompanied tours of duty in Korea,
these pans have been officially retired from their previous assignment.

A streamlined look to co~ordinate nicely with the updates 
that are taking place On Crooked Creektt's lower level Family Room.

Just the addition of one of my favorite photos of "Mr. Ed" 
at Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon, Missouri 
to the vignette atop the cabinet adds to the Family Room cohesiveness.

As soon as "Mr. Ed" completes the repairs 
with new padding for the carpeting, 
there will be additional updating to our Family Room.
