Window Dressings. . .

In my childhood and youth,
one of my favorite things to do at Christmas
was to enjoy all the window dressings on the Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas.

I l o v e d looking at all the baby dolls dressed in pink ruffles and lace.
Each wearing ruffled anklets and black patent buckle shoes.
Ribbons and bows adorned the curls and waves in their hair.
Oh, in my mind's eye, I can almost see them still!

In our town, window dressing has almost become a 'thing of the past'.

So~o~o. . .
in On Crooked Creektt's upper level Living Room,
I styled the Entertainment Center display shelves
as if they were w i n d o w s.

Definitely, not the window dressing of my childhood or youth,
but dressing the display shelves in our Entertainment Center
On Crooked Creektt does make one feel a bit nostalgic.

Until next time. . .

I can see your displays as window displays! I do miss the special Christmas windows in Chicago where I grew up and later in college, in New York City. They were fascinating and worth going downtown just to see them! Thanks for the memories!

Lots of eye candy, Pat. I miss the storefronts of yesteryear, too. To me they were so much more elaborate than what I see today...but that is probably because I was remembering from a child's eyes!!
I have that same pair of busts...I dressed the little girl in an amethyst necklace.
Have a great week.

I love it, Pat! What a great way to think as you were styling your shelves. I remember the window dressings when I was a little girl too. The windows all had such a deep sill so they could poke all sorts of things on them. I loved it when passing and saw a 'real person' in there going to town getting the window dressed for all to see. You always make such pretty displays. Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Pat,
Thank you for bringing back such sweet memories for me on the storefront windows. Weren't they wonderful though, Christmas music wafting through the downtown streets, a light dusting of snow and so much magic and wonder. You have captured the essence of it all with your lovely Christmas displays.

Sweet Pat, thanks for stirring up a sweet memory of mine as well! Mom use to take us to Salt Lake City to see the lights in the ritzy area of homes and we always stopped in the city to see the window displays. You really took me back to my childhood. You did a wonderful job and they certainly made me smile! Hope you are having a Merry Christmas! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
