Hurrying And Scurrying. . .

On Crooked Creektt,
I'm loving these 'crisp' mornings, warm afternoons and chilly evenings!

One of the things "Mr. Ed" enjoys about Autumn
is the hurrying and scurrying of the squirrels that frequent our feeders!

This squirrel figurine
is one of many in our 'collection' of "Mr. Ed's" furry~tailed curiosities.

It almost appears that the squirrel has proclaimed to all of creation,
"This one's (acorn) mine!"

All the while,
there's a creamy ivory maple leaf platter
filled to the brim with 'uniquely' made acorns at the ready for him.

On Crooked Creektt,
our 'resident' squirrel and this one could honestly be twins.

Reminding both "Mr. Ed" and I of the antics of our 'resident' squirrel,
this vignette sits atop the vintage sewing machine cabinet
in On Crooked Creektt's upper level Living Room.

Hurrying and scurrying
seems to be the order of the day On Crooked Creektt
while both "Mr. Ed" and I are trying to 'catch~up' after returning home
from our Annual Trout Fishing Trip to Bennett Spring State Park.

Needlework Vol.I. . .

I l o v e Christmas In July $ales!

However,
this year's Christmas In July $ales were disappointing.

So~o~o. . .
I came home and went to my resources for Holiday inspiration!

Yes!
I keep past issues of my favorite subscriptions on the shelves of Studio One!

Holiday Home from cottage journal Holiday 2014
is where I found the inspiration for this year's entry for our Church Silent Auction.

In the past,
I've donated my handmade cards with a vintage flair.

Breaking in tradition,
last year I made a vintage button Christmas Tree and it was a huge success.

This year,
I'll be placing my Needlework, Vol.I ~o holy night~ in our Silent Auction.

Of course,
I still need to place it within a frame.

My plan began with a sketch on notebook paper.

I determined the size to cut the neutral fabric for my Needlework Vol. I piece.

Next,
I sketched my stitches to be used for this somewhat "primitive in nature" piece.

I used #520 Green and #347 Red DMC Embroidery Floss.

Then,
using buttons from my vintage button collection,
I chose the buttons and their placement for the Needlework, Vol. I.

I deviated from the wording that is on the original needle work piece
and chose "o holy night" .

I had forgotten the joy I receive from an evening spent doing needlework.

Rescued Wood, Glue and Nails. . .

While vacationing last September,
a long narrow box caught my eye.

I had "Mr. Ed" make a 'rough' drawing with dimensions.
Yes, I always carry a tape measure in my purse!

Early in the Spring,
"Mr. Ed" spent a day in the garage making boxes.

The first one went to our daughter~in~law. . .
one went in the Garage $ale and a dear friend purchased it,
three were reserved for our daughter~in~laws family all celebrating
their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversaries. . .
and one is for the Church Silent Auction.

But, alas, there was no box for On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room table.

I have the most amazing husband e v e r. . .
today, "Mr. Ed" not only made me a box,
but he helped carry my heirloom Dining Room table upstairs.
Something I've been wanting to do since the 2015 Renewal Projects!

This Dining Room table matches the buffet and was gifted to me
by my MoMa and my Aunt's when my beloved Grandmother passed away.

This April, marked its 43rd year in my possession.

As soon as "Mr. Ed" and I completed the switching of the Dining Room tables,
I set a simplistic, neutral palette designed tablescape
using our everyday dinnerware, flatware and stemware.
