Welcome Home Tea. . .

One of my dear friends spends a portion of her Winter

staying with family in Florida each year. . .and I miss her!

So~o~o. . .

once she returned to her home,

I invited her over for Tea to Welcome her Home, once again!

I began my Welcome Home Tea tablescape by leaving 

On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room table in it's original round size.

Then, 

I placed a circular, white eyelet lace tablecloth atop my oak table.

Next,

I added a vintage rectangular, white cutwork topper imported from Mexico.

It is a treasured heirloom piece from my beloved maternal grandmother.

The table topper has four matching luncheon napkins, 

but I chose others for our Tea.

For our centerpiece,

I placed faux yellow varigated silk tulips and a few faux white cherry blossoms 

into my 24% lead crystal butterfly vase from our tours of duty while in Germany.

My Avon Pear Teapot, 
(I apologize, the Pear Teapot is not visible in the photo, as I was tempering it in the Kitchen.)

combined with my lidded apple creamer and pear lidded sugar bowl, 

kept the color pallet light and gave us an unobstructed view of the Garden.

This adorable vintage set of pepper and salt shakers

added a touch of whimsy and a nod to the Season of Spring.

Vintage beige linen napkins hand embroidered in a sage green and white thread,

in a simplistic fold, 

where placed beside my beloved mother~in~laws sterling silver forks.

I used my vintage Sheffield White swirl patterned dinner plates
for serving Krusteaz Meyer Lemon Bread.

Tetley Classic Black Tea

I added frozen Cranberries to our lightly chilled Pink Lemonade
to keep the drink 'temperature controlled'  and for a splash of color.

A divinely delicious Harrowgate Fine Food Traditional English Raspberry Curd!

The Meyer Lemon Bread was so moist!
Adding the Raspberry Curd to the Lemon Bread 
took its flavor to an even higher level of deliciousness.


Following our Welcome Home Tea,
we took a "walk about" in On Crooked Creektt's Gardens
to see what was awakening within the privacy fencing borders.

As we bid our farewell's, 
we made promises to meet again, soon!

A Bit Of Spring. . .

Recently,

I've been spreading a bit of Spring around 

On Crooked Creektt's upper level Living Room.

I began by removing the vintage white pottery vases.

Replacing them with my vintage soft aqua blue ones in the Entertainment Center,

seemed the solution for spreading a bit of Spring.

"Mr. Ed" and I hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees most every morning.

Spring is the perfect time 

for them to make their reappearance within my home decor, too.

The mourning doves have returned to On Crooked Creeektt's Gardens, as well.

I placed the pair of faux doves on either side of out mantle clock.

My silver birds, reminiscent of those that scurry across the back deck railings,

are a whimsical complement to my wrought iron crowns.

I purchased new faux ivy 

to enhance the displays within the Entertainment Center. 

It mimics that which grows in On Crooked Creektt's Garden.

Spreading a bit of Spring, 

in the upper level Living Room On Crooked Creektt, refreshes us, once again!

Dear Ones,

"Mr. Ed" and I met with the Hand Rail Contractor last week.

We have ordered custom hand railing for our NEW Front Porch (here) and (here).

It will take a minimum of three weeks before the hand railing is completed.

Once completed, it will then be delivered and installed.

I can, honestly, tell you that there were several compromises.

Some on design. Some on placement. Mostly on our budget!

All in all, I feel that both"Mr. Ed" and I, and our Contractor

have chosen hand railing becoming of our 1970's Ranch Style Home!

Yellow Checked Ribbon. . .

Certain items can be a trigger into one's memory of a time or place.

That's exactly what yellow checked ribbon does for me!

Yellow checked ribbon triggers my memory 

of bows tied up for Spring floral bouquets!

I adore soft buttery yellow flowers for Spring floral arrangements!

While designing a Spring Wreath for 

On Crooked Creektt's  NEW Front Porch (here),

I used soft buttery yellow florals  as my color palette.

After I had "Mr. Ed" hang the grapevine wreath to the front door,
I began by sticking yellow wildflowers to the left side of the wreath.

When I was satisfied with the placement of the florals,
I did the same to the right side of the grapevine wreath.

Next,

I filled the grapevine wreath with soft buttery yellow florals in a random, yet strategic pattern.

Then,

I added a stem of various berries, blossoms and leaves for added texture.

Quite truthfully,

I could have stopped at this point and been pleased with an early Spring wreath.

Instead, 

I added  soft buttery yellow blossoms 

to fill the wreath with florals that mimic Spring sunshine!

To add another Spring time element to the grapevine wreath,

I neatly tucked inside a rusty tin can containing a bird's nest.

I adore the look of this Spring Wreath 

from the reflection in my French Mirror in On Crooked Creektt's Entry Hall!

This is how my Spring Wreath remained 

during the construction of our NEW Front Porch, Holy Week and Easter.

On the day that I waited for the hand rail construction appointment,

I took the idle time to make the yellow checked ribbon into a bow!

First,

I tied a length of the yellow checked ribbon 

the circumference of the grapevine wreath, attaching it at the top.

Next,

I cut approximately 2  1/2 yards of yellow checked ribbon

and gathered it into six loops, making three loops to each side.

Then,

I tied the gathered loops into a square knot onto the grapevine wreath.

I opened yellow checked ribbon loops and "fluffed" the bow 

until I was pleased and had the desired look I preferred.

Taking a black Sharpie marker,

 I began rolling the yellow checked ribbon,

 from the bottom to the top of the strand,

 then loosely pulling down to relax the curled ribbon.

I repeated the process . . .

until all four strands of the ribbon had been curled.
