Breathing New Life. . .

Yeah!
We've been accepted to participate in
Unique Antique Market 2014 Spring Show!!!

"Mr. Ed" and I have been working daily since January,
when we mailed in our registration, on Bits 'n Pieces inventory.

Shortly after I posted Sewing Machine Cabinet Make~Over,
Bits 'n Pieces received a request from a dear friend
to refinish an heirloom table.

Bits 'n Pieces is a co~operative endeavor
to create and design handmade new and re~purposed "finds"
into home decor accessories and gifts.

As with the Sewing Machine Cabinet,
the Sewing Machine has been removed.

The cabinet may now be used for a variety of purposes.
A few recommendations would be a computer station
(as it is perfect for a laptop),
a mini~bar or a desk area in compact living quarters.

However,
when my friend sent me a photo of an heirloom table
that belong to her grandmother. . . we accepted the challenge.

In my heart, I believe that "Mr. Ed" is capable of  a n y t h i n g!!!
Dear ones, he definitely breathed new life into this family heirloom. . .
and in doing so, he has preserved it for future generations!

In the photo above,

you can see where wood putty has been applied to the sides of the table.
On your left, you can still visualize some turquoise latex paint.

Courtesy photo from my friend.

The top of the table appears to be walnut.

Before beginning this refinishing process,
stain and paint selections were agreed upon.

"Mr. Ed" did three separate "light" sandings
to bring out the best of the wood grain on the top of the table.
Then he applied two coats of Dark Walnut stain,
followed by two coats of protective sealer.

Next,
"Mr. Ed" applied a coat of bonding primer
followed by three coats of Sherwin~Williams PaperWhite latex paint.

B e c a us e "Mr. Ed" is the more careful painter of our team,
he made the decision to do the painting for our friend.
He used a fine artist paint brush and a "mini" roller and painted three coats
to cover up all the years of wear ~ and  ~ tear on this table.

I, truly, believe "Mr. Ed" breathed new life into my friend's table. . .

. . .and in doing so,
preserved this table for future generations to cherish!

"I want to thank Patricia Cantwell and Mr. Ed for refinishing my table.
This end table was my grandmothers
and my Dad had painted many different colors throughout the years.
I love the new look.
Thank you so much."

We, "Mr. Ed" and I, are so very blessed
to have been involved in this transformation for our friend!

. . .and now it's time to return to our continuining list of
projects lined up for Bits 'n Pieces inventory!

Until next time. . .

Dear Ones,
I've had many request for photos of our Bits 'n Pieces
booth and merchandise. While I thank you for your encouragement
and interest, Unique Antique Market 2014 Spring Show will be held
April 6th. . .and we haven't completed our creative designs at this time.

I do post photos and "sneak peeks" on my personal Face Book Page.

At the present time,
a Face Book page for Bits 'n Pieces is still under construction.

I ask for your patience during this process.
We will be taking photos of our booth, displays,
and merchandise for this event.
Plans to do a post are in the near future.
Thank you for your understanding.

Fondly,
Pat

Hi Pat,
How wonderful you will be in the Antique Fair! If I lived near I would definitely come.
Mr. Ed did a beautiful job on the table. So glad he left the top the wood color, it is such a nice contrast!
Thanks for your kind words on my post, I do appreciate you stopping by!

Pat -- Mr. Ed worked magic on that table and how great that she still has her grandmother's table and it's now perfect and usable! Good luck on your new venture!

Hi Pat! Oh, Mr. Ed did a beautiful job on that table and I'm sure your friend is just thrilled! It's such an unusual shape and I love he stained the top and painted the rest. Keep that boy! Thanks for popping in to see me and have a great week.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)

What a great team you two are! The end table turned out wonderful. I regret that I got rid of a magazine rack my grandfather made. It was out of thin plywood and stained with a dark color and glossed. I never liked how it looked and let it go, but now I see other visions like a simple paint job that could've given it a second chance!
