Fanfare Affair!

It has been several years
since I've done any Fourth of July decorating!

So~o~o. . .
this year, On Crooked CreekttI'm having a fanfare affair!

Most all of my Fourth of July decorations
had been edited to a mere trickle, so that I had to do some holiday shopping.

I wasn't $old on anything. . .

until "Mr. Ed" and I stopped into our local Dollar Tree $tore.

I spotted the red, blue, and silver pinwheels
and was immediately transmitted back in time!

Of course,
I had to blow on one in the store!

It was when I was checking to see if anyone had noticed,
that I spied the paper fan wheels out of the corner of my eye!

Once I arrived home,
I placed a vintage white cotton cloth with red stripes on the diagonal
atop my oval shaped oak dining table.

Next,
I placed "Mr. Ed's" handmade gray wooden box atop the cloth.

I placed the 14 inch paper fan wheel at the back of the wooden box.
I adore the red and blue stars on the white background!

Then,
I placed the 10 inch red and white stripe paper fan in front.

To soften the hard surface,
I placed a vintage "Huck" towel with red embroidery in the bottom of the box.

I placed two vintage creamy ivory plates in the front half of the wooden box.
The larger of the two is a Homer Laughlin,
while the smaller plate is Johnson Brothers England.

The small 4" X 4" American Flag with its stars and stripes
looks majestic against the red and blue stars of the paper fan!

I used faux red hydrangea to fill in the void areas.

I placed another 10 inch red and white stripe paper fan
on the side of the buffet to form a coordinating vignette.

Fourth of July decorating On Crooked Creektt. . .
                                                                                         it's a fanfare affair!

Until next time. . .

Birdscaping. . .

Since I've been experiencing shoulder problems,
I've been reluctant to produce tablescapes On Crooked Creektt.

The truth is. . . it hurts to raise my left arm and shoulder!
Just photo shooting is still quite painful!

As I begin to make continued 'significant' progress,
I thought I'd give tablescaping another try.

"Mr. Ed" and I were truly "living on Tulsa time" for our 47th Anniversary,
as we spent three wonderful days in Tulsa, Oklahoma!

We spent the majority of our time s h o p p i n g!
I thoroughly enjoyed the vast selection of malls and unique shops
that we lack here On Crooked Creektt!

When I found these adorable wrought iron rusty bird cage votives,
I had to have a pair for On Crooked Creektt's Dining table.

Thanks to "Mr. Ed" for providing the b i r d  s e e d for the votive holders.
Our current temperatures are soaring into triple digits. . .
whew. . .too hot for lighting candles!

My birdscaping tablescape centerpiece began with a creamy ivory
vintage pottery vase filled with faux Magnolias and greenery
placed atop a ecru linen ruffled table runner.

Then,
I placed a bird cage on either side of the vase of Magnolias.

Next,
I began by layering my everyday Food Network scalloped ivory dinner plates,
with these soft blue hued bird plates purchased from Pottery Barn years ago.

World Market had these adorable bird shaped saucers that complement this set.

I adore the bird perched on the handle of the tea cup!

Not wanting the birdscaping tablescape to be without a"cool touch" of color,
I used an aqua hued linen napkin held with a shabby chic chippy bird napkin ring.

Simplistic in style and care,
I used my everyday Oneida stainless steel flatware.

Everyday clear bubble glass stemware
mimics the shape of the vintage pottery vase used in the centerpiece.

Needing more color to break the monotony of this monochromatic tablescape,
I used green glass beads trailing along the linen table runner.

On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room has such a cooling effect
on our home in this much needed beginning Summer heat.

"Mr. Ed" makes several trips each and every day to refill the bird baths
in On Crooked Creekt's Gardens and refills the bird feeders for our birds.

All the while,
we enjoy the "cool touches" of this birdscaping tablescape
within On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room.

Until next time. . .
