Buzzin' Through The Kitchen. . .

Friends have often said that watching me design
is like that of  a conductor leading an orchestra.

There's a rhythm that flows from the Classical music,
through my soul and into my fingers to create my design style. I agree.

But,
On Crooked Creektt
when I'm cleaning my 1970's Ranch Style Galley Kitchen,
all that goes right out the patio doors, 'cause I'm buzzin' through!

Although our Galley Style Kitchen has undergone some recent updating,
and while I do l o v e the Timeless Classic appearance,
I still miss the open Country Kitchen of my former home.

Through the years,
"Mr. Ed" and I have changed the counter tops, faucets and sink,
painted the cabinets and the changed the hardware,
added new appliances and lighting fixtures but still haven't changed the layout.

So~o~o. . .
while I can't change the lack of space,
I created work stations with pleasing to eye vignettes within each station.

My favorite vignette features my pear print and my creamy ivory pottery jars!

I love featuring Seasonal and themed decorative tea towels on my oven door!

The microwave and my favorite spices are nestled near the stove.

To the left of the sink,
the Coffee Station, is one of the most used areas in our Galley Style Kitchen.

I love putting our coffee beans and loose leaf tea in these glass containers!

"Mr. Ed" has been officially retired from the U.S. Army for many years,
but he is still a Soldier at heart and always will be!
I'm extremely proud of his commitment and years of active service!

This work station is the work horse of the entire Galley Style Kitchen.

The prep area
is where I prepare all the recipes for our meals On Crooked Creektt.

It also, serves as a buffet area for serving meals shared with family and friends!

These adorable dessert plates ~ Eat Dessert First ~
were gifted to me for Christmas may years ago by my daughter~in~law!

Only three of the six designs are featured here.

Our Galley Style Kitchen has no window.
"Mr. Ed" and I made these kitchen prints
using vintage silver serving pieces atop scrapbooking papers
and attached them with sage hued French silk ribbon.

So~o~o. . .
On Crooked Creektt, I choose not to linger for any amount of time
in our 1970's Ranch Style Galley Kitchen,
instead you'll see me buzzin' through the kitchen!

Until next time. . .

1950's Restaurant Ware Collection. . .

One of my favorite things On Crooked Creektt,
is my collection of Restaurant Ware dinnerware.

So~o~o,
this week while the temperatures are soaring in the upper 90's
with heat indexes into the 105 ~ 110 degree range,
I set a simplistic Summer tablescape with my Restaurant Ware Collection.

My collection of Restaurant Ware dates from the 1950's.
Simple (heavy) white ironstone with green detailing.

One of the reasons it is near and dear to my heart
is the fact that my beloved maternal grandmother owned and operated
a cafe in the 1940's ~1950's, known as Ford's Cafe.

Featured in the above photo,
beginning on your left is my Aunt Dorothy,my MoMa's younger sister.
My beloved Grandmother is in the middle.
My MoMa's youngest sister, Aunt Jeanne is on your right.

Although the photos are a collection of Don Miller,
it is believed that my MoMa, (pictured above) Carmen took the photograph.

I combined my 1950's Restaurant Ware Collection
atop a layered heirloom vintage white damask tablecloth,
followed by a vintage white linen tablecloth
and finished with a vintage heirloom white table topper.

The layering of tablecloths,
is not something that would have been done in Ford's Cafe,
but rather comes from the days of my youth
watching the Banquet Hall being prepared at The Townhouse Hotel in KCK.

I began by designing a petite floral arrangement
into my Restaurant Ware Collection dinner roll lidded bowl.

Next,
I added my Restaurant Ware dinnerware.

Round dinner plate, butter pat, saucer and coffee cup.
All in the heavy white ironstone with a heavy green band and a thin green band.

My finished place setting also, features a bread ( dinner roll) plate.

I used my vintage juice glasses with a green band,
my everyday Oneida stainless steel flatware and the matching luncheon napkin.

On Crooked Creektt, the temperatures are sweltering out ~of ~doors,
but I've done my very best to keep the decor light and bright
with a cool green and white color palette using my Restaurant Ware Collection.
