Post Memorial Day Tablescape. . .

I did something a bit more unique, even for me,
On Crooked Creektt for a Memorial Day Tablescape.

No flags, no poppies,
just the true red, white and cobalt blue. . .for two.

The entire tablescape is built around gifted
cobalt blue square dessert / salad plates.

After trying several dinner plate combinations,
I settled for the newest ecru dinner plates.

I embraced the difference in the styles,
yet felt there was a cohesiveness with the circular patterns.

Individual pepper and salt shakers on silver rectangular trays
continues the angular shapes through out the tablescape.

While the urn is circular in shape,
its base is square like the dessert / salad plate.

Its diamond placement atop the rectangular serving tray
mimics the shapes found in the place setting.

I adore how the shape of the clear bubble glass stemware resembles the urn!

Clean, streamlined Traditional styling for our Dining Room
On Crooked Creektt, kept our focus on the truest meaning for Memorial Day.

in red, white and cobalt blue.

For Our Viewing Pleasure. . .

You won't find "Mr. Ed" and I watching much TV
during the warmer months On Crooked Creektt.

Partially due to re~run programming. . .
partially due to the out ~ of ~ doors activity.

Just the same,
I added a touch of Summer to our Entertainment Center.

While it is a subtle change,
I've added a touch of green to accent my Willow Tree Angel Collection.
The added touch of greenery reflects the emerging greenery
taking place in the Gardens On Crooked Creektt.

I edited my collection on display
keeping my focus on the meaningful celebrations On Crooked Creektt in June.

Our 45th Wedding Anniversary. . .

and, of course

. . . Father's Day!

I, also, edited the selection of books
and their titles to reflect those celebration days.

Before. . .

Using Ernest Hemingway titles
keeps a manly theme to the left side of the Entertainment Center.

. . .After.

By removing the reds and browns,
I visually lightened the shelves.

Before. . .

I kept an 'air of romance'
to the right side of the Entertainment Center.

. . .After.

Calming Peace On Earth musical Nativity Box
and my favorite feminine Victorian vase are sufficient for the top shelf.

The Complete Works of William Shakespeare
and our Anniversary figurine to remind us of all the years we've shared.

I, truly am a symmetrical person.

So~o~o. . .
off centering the mantle clock was the most difficult design element.

Showcasing my green pottery urns from Nell Hill's
helps to hide those hideous silver speakers.

I balanced the right side by adding a hand painted vase
filled with faux miniature ferns.

My white urns atop the Entertainment Center
keeps the mood focused on the out ~of~ doors Summertime activities.

Two mourning doves,
similar to those that frequent the feeders On Crooked Creektt,
add a sense of tranquility to the vignette
and enhance the hues of the vintage window frame.

Our viewing pleasure indoors On Crooked Creektt
will be enhanced by the continual changes emerging out ~of~ doors
reflected in the Gardens through the Dining Room patio doors.

The subtle changes in the Entertainment Center
will aid us in keeping our focus
on the upcoming celebrations and the reminiscing of the blessings
we continue to experience On Crooked Creektt.

Until next time. . .

. . .And I Know He Watches Me!

There are times in one's life
when we feel as though the 'weight of the world' is upon our shoulders.

Circumstances beyond our control
may bring about a feeling of helplessness.

In those times,
I recall the lyrics to the hymns I've learned.
Most are the from the 'good old time religion' still good enough for me.

Other times,
contemporary music, or rather contemporary artist, will see me through.
You only have to listen to Dallas Holms sing, Hold On My Child,
to understand that weeping only last for the night.

So~o~o. . .
when the storms are life are raging. .
I hold fast to the fact that there is sunshine after the rain.

For His eye is on the sparrow
. . . and I know He watches me!

Whatever turmoil may be in your life,
now or in the future,
I wish for you these comforting words.

Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand
but I know who holds tomorrow, and I know who holds my hand.

Until next time. . .

Tree Top Decor. . .

Working through the seasonal changes
of our 1970's Ranch Style homes decor, I always begin at the top!

Today, On Crooked Creektt, was true of my convictions. . .

thus the Dining Room has the added touch of Tree Top Decor.

I began by simply winding a twiggy faux branch
through the arms of the chandelier.

I positioned a few branches streaming upwards to the ceiling. . .

and a few downwards towards the tabletop.

Next,
I added one sprig of faux greenery
which I separated into three individual pieces
and tucked it in at even intervals around the base of the chandelier.

With my feet firmly planted on the top step of my ladder,
I felt as if I were reminiscing the tree climbing days of my youth.

One of the joys of tree climbing is of the unseen treasures one finds. . .

My favorite Spring through Autumn decor accessory
is this faux bird's nest on a twiggy branch.

Our feathered friends
that frequent the feeders On Crooked Creektt
have been supplying "Mr. Ed" and I
with harmonious melodies all season through.

So~o~o. . .
whether viewed from above. . .

or from below. . .

I'm bringing a touch of the out~of~doors
to our Dining Room On Crooked Creektt for our dining pleasure!

Truly,
 a Tree Top Decor experience!

Until next time. . .
