Trick OR Treat???

I adore answering the doorbell On Crooked Creektt
Halloween Night and hearing, "Trick OR Treat"!

The last few years,
we've had less than ten children at our door on Halloween Night.

Nevertheless,
I set a black, white and orange "Trick OR Treat" tablescape.
Er, well. . .sort of.

Since returning from our Annual Trout Fishing Trip,
I've been wanting to design a black, white and orange Autumnal tablescape.

I began by using the reverse side of my toile black and white place mats.
I adore the black and white check scalloped quilted place mats!

Next,
I added our everyday white porcelain china dinner plates.

Atop the dinner plate,
I set a matching cloth black and white checked napkin.

Then,
my charming Mary Carol bee salad / dessert plates.

I love the detail edge of these versatile pieces!

A vintage ironstone Syracuse bread plate placed atop hides the bee print
and gives a neutral backdrop for our small glass orange pumpkins.

Our everyday Oneida flatware is a perfect companion
to my vintage rose etched crystal stemware.

I gathered a faux miniature trio of orange and white chrysanthemums
inside Nell Hill's white scalloped bud vases and placed atop each place setting.

The black and white polka dot bow around the middle of each
adds a touch of whimsy.

I'm desperately trying to add more texture to my tablescapes.

I placed six ears of Indian Corn inside a double~handled
white porcelain basket and placed it as our centerpiece.

By misting the husks with warm water prior to arranging,
I was able to shape the husks and spread them to fill the bowl.

My heirloom vintage single taper candlesticks,
filled with orange marbled ROOT candles, flank either side of the centerpiece.
A white pepper-berry candle ring
continues with our black, white and orange hues.

Not exactly a "Trick OR Treat"tablescape,
by certainly a treat to "Mr. Ed" and I as we enjoy a meal
at this black, white and orange tablescape!

Until next time. . .

Pat,
Lovely table setting... just the right amount of fall and Halloween. I have to confess I can't find the "trick" even though I've scrolled back through to read more than once.

Pat,
I couldn't resist re-reading one more time to try to find the trick. Could it be you wrote that you placed the small flower vase atop the place setting instead of beside the place setting?

I love your tablescape, Pat.

The black and white is so crisp and then the orange just pops on it. Just perfect for this time of year.

Sometimes we have lots of little kids for Halloween and then sometimes, not so many. I never know! :-)

Hope your week is blessed.

Oh I love your sweet table. The black and white checks certainly set off the fun decor. I hope you're getting a long with the wall papering, I cannot wait to see it. fondly ~lynne~

You have a pretty table looking just perfect for the season, Pat. I love how you brought texture to your table with your Indian corn. Does it last from one year to the next? I may store mine if so. Is there any corn left or is it just the husks left? Am I catching on to your trick?!

This is so cute Pat. Of course as you know I like the black and white mix with orange! Love the checkered napkins and placemats. I looked and looked back at the pictures for your trick and I'm afraid all I can find is the one missing pumpkin on the table? i like the way you ruffled up the runner in the center- very cute!

Pat, I love the black checks! So beautiful with the pop of orange from the pumpkins. Must confess that while scrolling down I saw that someone mentioned one place setting didn't have a pumpkin. Didn't notice the first time. We are getting more trick or treaters now that our cul-de-sac has filled in. Thanks for sharing with SYC.

How clever to stack the napkin in with the plates, I'd have never thought of that, and it looks amazing. Great table setting ... now off to find black and white checked napkins!

Dear Pat, I thoroughly enjoyed sleuthing through your photos to detect the missing pumpkin! What a pretty tablescape you've made, and I really like how you ruffled the runner. Congrats on the features through blogland this past week - well-deserved!
