Kathleen @ Cuisine Kathleen Let's Dish Challenge for June!
Staying true to my Traditional Roots,
I met the challenge of "no china dishes".
Using the enamel splatterware from our camping days,
I kept the color palette of blue, white and buttery soft yellow.
As a centerpiece,
I filled my wooden gray box with two additional place settings.
This assures ease at mealtimes,
should our son and daughter~in~law join us
for those "spur of the moment" Summertime Cook~outs.
I added the enamel splatterware coffeepot and mugs
for early morning coffee on the deck
or evening strolls around the Gardens On Crooked Creektt.
Blue and white enamel plate rimmed with silver,
soft buttery yellow napkins in a splatter design fabric
gathered at the top with a soft buttery yellow beaded napkin ring
and the matching bowl for a variety of uses are the basis of our place setting.
Everyday Oneida flatware keeps clean~up to a minimum.
Glass tankards atop paper lace doilies
add ease of cool drinks to accompany our meals.
"Mr. Ed" and I scout for these former "A&W" Frosty Mugs
at local Antique and Flea Markets and our local Goodwill Stores.
Instead of being seated across from one another,
I changed our seating side~by~side
to allow us both a view of On Crooked Creektt's Gardens
through the patio doors.
Truthfully,
I had hopes for the Shasta Daisies to be in bloom.
For now, these faux yellow flowers will have to suffice
in completing our centerpiece.
Summer whimsy,
with a Traditional twist, for carefree dining On Crooked Creektt.
Until next time. . .
On Crooked Creektt will be joining

I love how you used the wooden gray box to stage the dishes. I like those blue spatterware dishes- that's a nice set! That napkin looks really neat with the floral napkin holder set like you have it! My shasta daisies are a ways off. I had to look for them the other day- I thought they were gone but they're still alive!
Wow! Even splatterware that one normally uses for camping looks terrific when coupled with yellow and white! I love your table!! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
Your table is great with the enamel splatterware especially the pot, creamer and sugar. The use of your wooden box for the centerpiece to set your extra place setting so pretty. Glad you have a view of your garden as you dine!
Have a wonderful week!
Pam
Cute idea to keep a few settings on the table, but not at each chair. The blue enamalware looks great in your wooden box.
Looks like rain on this side of the prairie today, Pat...dark and gloomy doesn't make me a happy camper!
Awwwww....that's so cute. Pat and her hubby, sittin' in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g!!! :-) It's cute that you put the chairs side by side!
I have some of that beautiful blue & white splatterware, too. I could just kick myself over and over for having given a lot of it to Goodwill several years back. I was on pain pills and just wasn't in my right mind at all as I was closing up shop. I was giving away practically everything that didn't immediately sell. I just wanted it all to be over with so that I could go home and rest my back! Now I wish someone would have just stopped me cold and made me keep everything until I was feeling better. The splatterware that I did keep, though, is very much loved.
I hope your Shastas come up soon. It has just been so doggone rainy! The sunshine should be out in full force this weekend, though, so you may get your wish!
Sweet table, Pat! Have a great weekend!
Love the splatter ware! It's my favorite summer set.

Dearest Pat - I love your blue enamel splatterware. I is reminiscent of our camping days as well and what great camping dishes they made! Love your blue with the yellow.
Blessings dear friend,
Patti
Pat, Your blue splatterware is so pretty and practical. Love your use of the tool caddy/carrier for your centerpiece, and the pop of yellow with your flowers.

Hi Pat, I love your blue dishes. They look like the perfect set for a Summer dinner or picnic. I can envision them filled with berries and surrounded by sunflowers :0)
Thanks so much for sharing.
Have a great week,
Suzanne

How often do we set the table and find ourselves with an extra guest that we had not expected? This is a good way to be sure you can quickly add that extra place setting without making your guest feel bad. Lovely idea!
So cute Pat! I love that little wooden caddy or I've heard some people call it a woman's toolbox....lol
Very nice!
Love the old-fashioned look of the dishes and they look great with the yellow flowers. Creative and cute...nice table!
love the wood tote ready for anything! Also I love the napkin placement under the bowl with the napkin ring at the top~
