It's DEMO Day!

Oh, my goodness!

Who would have thought a trip to our local Home Show
would have prompted a Demo Day On Crooked Creektt!

I guess I should have known better, eh?

At our local Home Show,
"Mr. Ed" and I spoke with a local contractor
about the need to replace our Front Porch Deck On Crooked Creektt.

We set up an appointment for an appraisal
and were thrilled when the weather turned to 60 plus degrees.

After a short conversation,
our contractor realized why this is such a challenging project.

Our two car garage, literally, sits at the edge of the Front Porch.

So~o~o,
while both our contractor, and "Mr. Ed" and I
are trying to discuss new plans for On Crooked Creektt's Front Porch,
the contractor says, "It would be most helpful if I could see exactly
what's underneath your existing porch."

No sooner had the contractor left
than "Mr. Ed" went to work. . .it's Demo Day On Crooked Creektt!

"Mr. Ed" worked most of the afternoon removing our Front Porch Deck.

As the sun moved around,
"Mr. Ed" continued to work until all the decking boards and posts were eliminated.

One can see by the 'wood rot' that this deck had definitely served its time.

As I earlier explained to the contractor,
there was only a stoop for a front entry to our 1970's Ranch Style Home.

These next few photos speak volumes!

I quickly downloaded these photos and sent them off to our contractor.

Once our contractor finishes his design for On Crooked Creektt's
Front Porch, we'll begin pouring new concrete and attaching new railing.

Now that Demo Day
has been completed On Crooked Creektt,
stay turned for Work In Progress updates!

Until next time. . .

Dear Ones,
This "Growing Old Business" is not at all what I had in mind!
I've been dealing with pain in my left shoulder for far too long.
Another trip back to my Physician shows that I may have a
tear in my Rotator Cuff. I am currently taking Physical Therapy.
Raising my arm above my head is "out~of~the~question",
so~o~o my interior decorating and blogging have taken a back seat.
Please be patient with me during this process.
I am praying that the Physical Therapy and combined daily exercises
will help my shoulder to heal and that surgery will not be needed.
Fondly,
Pat

O, getting anything new around the house is always exciting...I can just picture your porch much longer than the original, with a porch swing and a table and a couple chairs...with ferns hanging, of course.:)
Hope the therapy helps the shoulder...I, too, have the same only mine is in both shoulders....BOO

don't know if it will help you, but when I had a breast reduction (over 7 pounds removed from breasts) I could not raise my arm on the right side hardly at all. Someone recommended a Certified Medical Massage Therapist. The first one hour treatment ended with me putting my arm up completely over my head. It was amazing. Highly recommend one. Good luck. Excited to see how your new porch comes out.

Looks like demo day was successful. We are stuck with a very narrow deck on the side entry of our house because of how close the driveway is. I want to make a better entryway but I just don't have the room so I know what it's like to be stuck with a limitation of space. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with! Sorry your shoulder is bothering you. I know several people who have been through a torn rotator cuff surgery and they all came through it great and have no problems. Hopefully that's not what it is and or they can get it healed up with physical therapy.

Oh Pat, so sorry to hear of your rotator cuff! My daughter had surgery at 18 for that, and still has a little nag. My mother experienced chronic pain with it in her latter years, so I hope your PT helps.
I love the fact that you found a contractor and are on your way to getting your front porch deck renovated! I think going to the home show is what we need to do for our much needed balcony redo. It's been a thorn in our side ever since it was constructed, and too small a job for large contractors to want to take. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.

Pat, I am so sorry you are going through such pain. Hopefully you will be on the mend with therapy.

Ya'll were very successful with the demo day!

Demo Day!!! My favourite day too! Can't wait to see the results!

As for your shoulder issues - I hope you haven't been welding that sledge hammer along with Mr. Ed. A torn rotator is serious stuff. Good luck with the physio!! And thanks for sharing your project on the Table It party

Wow your hubby made quick work on that deck. It will be nice to see the new deck and I'm sure you will be happy to see it too! Meanwhile take care of your shoulder and I hope the faithful PT brings healing.

There is nothing cuter than a man doing demo! Good Job hubby! I cannot wait to see the progress. It's gonna look great! I am loving the stonework of your ranch home.

So sorry to hear about your shoulder pain, I hope the doc's can help you get back to feeling better again.

Oh, Dear Pat! I'm so sorry to hear about your shoulder and hope the physical therapy will do the trick. Prayers for you.
Now Mr. Ed is really something to be able to do so much. Sorry about the damaged wood and it is exciting to think you'll get a new porch. Will it be just like what you had or will it be longer in length? Can't wait to see it. Take care of yourself.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

What a surprise! There is a cement slab underneath! I thought it would be dirt. I hope therapy helps with your rotator cuff. It takes a lot of time out of your days. xoxo Su

Though your original deck had a certain charm of its own, I’ll have to agree that replacing it is the best way to go. The whole process of removing your old deck must’ve been difficult! Kudos to “Mr. Ed” for a job well done – singlehandedly removing a deck is no easy feat. I can’t wait to see how your new deck looks!
