That's A Wrap!

What began with a trip to our local Home Show mid~February,
ended with a NEW Front Porch (here) that far exceeded our expectations!

First,
"Mr. Ed" demoed our existing front wooden deck. (here)

Next,
Cement forms were made and concrete was poured. (here)

Then,
custom hand railings were discussed,
measured and order. . .and finally installed!

Nine weeks in the making, but totally worth the wait.

The concrete new front porch, easy (lazy) stairs and custom hand railing
bring a much needed update to our 1970's Ranch Style Home!

Guided by the experienced, knowledgeable and skilled contractor,
we ordered a bronze powdered coated, vertical view angled railing
for On Crooked Creektt's porch and stairs.

Our main concern and need for hand railing, is the steep 24" drop~off
from On Crooked Creektt's Front Porch to the driveway below.

The rounded steps needed a post to keep family, friends and guests

from walking off the front porch possibly causing injury.

Both "Mr. Ed" & I couldn't be more pleased
with the completion of our new front porch, stairs and custom hand railing!

Welcoming our family, friends and guests
will now be more stylish and safe, as well.

That's A Wrap!

Until next time. . .

Yay, Pat! I am so glad for you! It looks terrific and is so much safer now. Your Spring plants look pretty beside your new porch.

You chose well! Everything came out perfect. I agree the handrail was a good idea- safer and also adds a little more eye candy!

Pat, very nicely done! That railing not only complements your home's exterior color scheme, but serves exactly as intended with the safety issues. Nice design, too, which allows a bit of display space while maximizing entry space. Home projects are sometimes want to dos, but sometimes must dos. Either way, the process can be stressful. We all want to know our money is being well spent.

We are counting down to completion on our balcony project, now 30 days in, mostly due to volatile spring weather. The weather, though, has given us the chance to see we are apparently watertight this time - whew! We can now see the finish line.

Absolutely gorgeous Pat! I love the way the railing is a necessary part of a front porch attire, but not the focal point. The choice of bronze was spot on, it blends in so well. I know your loving the finished project. You and Mr. Ed make a great team. fondly ~ Lynne ~

Your new porch looks so nice! I love the space you have to create vignettes--I'd be so tempted to change out the decor quite often just because I could! Your contractor did a great job!

Hi Pat, I wanted to let you know that you won the free glasses on my blog. Here is the voucher code to use when ordering them from firmoo. d9c00121bb
They said that handling and shipping are extra. If you let me know how much I would be happy to reimburse you for that.

Loving the new handrail Pat, the color is spot on! I have heard horror stories about these types of projects dragging on, so I am so glad to hear they got it done in a little over 2 months. It does feel like an eternity when we're waiting.

Looks great!

Your porch looks splendid, Pat! I think it looks especially nice that the landing and steps extend beyond the handrail, so there are places to add some greenery and other cute stuff, but have it out of the way of walking. Job well done!

It turned out really nice and glad you are happy. I also like how the handrail is inside the stairs and landing. Your porch is so pretty...enjoy!

Your new porch and steps look great! I popped over to see the old ones - this really brightens up the welcome.

So glad you shared this at Thoughts of Home. Helps us see how something simple (although expensive I'm sure) can really change the look of the house.

Good for you, Pat! Y'all did a great job here, and you've created a nice place to welcome guests. I KNOW people feel welcome at your house, because your spirit shines through!

By the way, I was recently looking at your Google Plus profile and saw that you're from Derby, KS. I don't think I ever knew that. My mom was from Belle Plaine! I grew up spending summers in Sumner County. Love it there so much! :)
