Autumnal Front Door Decor. . .

I'm embarrassed to say,
it was only this past week that I removed my Summer wreath on my Front Porch.

Since returning from our Annual Trout Fishing Trip to Bennett Spring State Park,
I've attended classes, meetings, lunch dates out. . .the list goes on.

Finally,
an Autumnal Front Door Decor for On Crooked Creektt's Front Porch!

Finding the correct size to enhance our lovely original 1970's front door,
I use the same twig wreath but change the design each Season.

For Autumn's design,
I've covered the twig wreath with a wide burlap stripe ribbon
purchased for less than $3.00 at Hobby Lobby.

Beginning at the top,
I inserted the end of a subtle hued leaf and berry garland
draping it down the left side and securing as I went with hot glue.

Next,
I inserted the gold hued miniature mums.

Then,
I tucked in some purple hued grains picks
and randomly hot glued three copper and gold wooden leaves.

I finished it off with a single gold rose.

As the crisp mornings and chilly evenings fill the air On Crooked Creektt,
I'm thrilled to be able to, once again, open the door for natural light.

Sunday Dinner. . .

On Crooked Creektt,
"Mr. Ed" and I don't let much time go by
without sharing a meal with our son and daughter~in~law!

This month's Sunday Dinner was held this past weekend.

Something new for On Crooked Creektt's design
was to place the centerpiece to the back of the table
while placing the four chairs on one side and both ends.
This allowed for free flowing conversation at our heirloom dining room table.

I wanted a more ' casual' setting for our intimate gathering.

* * * * * * * Tutorial * * * * * * *
I began my placing my Ralph Lauren Tablecloth atop my heirloom table.

Next,
I placed a felt black Autumnal decor runner to the center back of the table
and placed "Mr. Ed's" wooden box atop the runner.

Then,
I added four scalloped quilted place mats in vivid Autumnal hues
around the outer perimeter of the table.

Using our everyday dinnerware,
I placed the folded paisley side of the matching cloth napkins
between the dinner and dessert / salad plate for a more 'casual' appeal.

* * * * * * * Tip * * * * * * *

When purchasing cloth napkins,
be sure to fold, then observe for pattern repeats.
I have three with green blossoms and three with paisley swirl repeat.
I would have preferred all six to have the green blossom.

Perfect for combining with my 'casual' appealing tablescape,
I added these green handled Gibson stainless steel flatware set of four
that I purchased at a Garage $ale many years ago for a dollar.

For added ease in cleaning up,
I'm using our everyday clear bubble glass stemware.

Both the dinnerware and the stemware are dishwasher safe!

Although, "Mr. Ed" and I don't usually add
additional seasonings to our food at the table, our son most often does.

Keeping that in mind,
I placed the salt and pepper shakers used during his childhood and youth
on a tray with some over sized textural acorns.

Smaller textural acorns, purchased at Pier 1,
fill our dessert / salad plate and could easily be used for place cards.

Baked Ham, scalloped potatoes, a green salad, dinner rolls

The "Real" Deal. . .

All of my life,
I have struggled with allergies.

That's the main reason On Crooked Creektt,
you'll find faux flora throughout my decorating designing.

However,
the maidenhair grasses, if dried, are one thing I seem to tolerate well.

I sent "Mr. Ed" to The Neighborhood Market (Wal ~ Mart) for some coffee.

When the phone rang,
I was sure it was he informing me they were out of our favorite bean coffee.

Instead,
a very excited "Mr. Ed"
was telling me he had found three small pumpkins for $3.00!

Doing some research,
I found that these pumpkins are called  Pump~Ke~Mons!

A mini-pumpkin featuring orange and green stripes
on a white background creating a unique appearance
throughout the exterior of the lil' pumpkin.

Lil’ Pump~Ke~Mon has a distinctive flattened shape
with slight to medium ribbing emphasized by the orange and green stripes.

The 1~2 lb. fruit adds color and interest to traditional Autumnal decor.

I adore how the three Pump ~Ke~Mons enhance the tiny harvested pumpkin
from On Crooked Creektt's Gardens planted by Master Gardener, "Mr. Ed"!

So~o~o. . .
instead of 'faux' pumpkins in On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room,
I now have "real" pumpkins adorning the built~in china cabinet.

"Mr. Ed" found the "real" deal
at an affordable price from our Neighborhood Market!

Until next time. . .
