Bye~Bye Cottage Charm. . .

While the "heat is on" On Crooked Creektt,
"Mr. Ed" and I have been spending quality time
in our lower level living areas. . .it's much c o o l e r down there!

To keep "Mr. Ed" busy, (out~of~trouble)
I asked him to give my workstation in Studio One a touch~up.

Since the closing of our Bit's 'n Pieces business in January,
I am thrilled to have more space for creating and designing for our own home.

However,
it was definitely time for a "face~lift" to my workstation hue.

As you can see by my inspiration board,
I've been contemplating some color palette changes for quite some time.

So~o~o. . .
bye~bye Cottage Charm. . .

h e l l o Trendy Lady!

To make my color selection for the updating of my workstation,
I had a paint "chip" that I thought I'd picked up
at our local Sherwin~Williams store. Oops!
Instead, it was from our local big box store.

Timidly, with paint chip in hand,
I entered our Sherwin~Williams store and tried to find a match.

Caught in the act of failure, by our loyal paint specialist Brian,
he carefully took the paint chip and gave me a perfect match!

Brian, professionally, named my custom matched paint hue. . .
On Crooked Creektt Studio Gray!

"Mr. Ed" graciously painted the two~tier shelving unit
and my heirloom bookcase all while he was in Studio One!

As soon as the satin latex paint dried, I began to fill Studio One
with all things vintage and uplifting.

I filled every corner with floral hues that speak of Summer to my soul.

Within the surroundings of Studio One,
I'll be keeping "cool" regardless of the triple digits that now plaque the Prairie.

On Crooked Creektt,
the only thing heating up is my creativity!

Garden Inspired Tablescape. . .

Amidst the squelching h e a t and the determination to survive,
I'm still observing spectacular views beyond the patio doors
in On Crooked Creektt's Gardens.

"Mr. Ed" and I have been continually and timely blessed
with showers throughout June and July,
even though our temperatures are registering in the high 90's!

Since everything in On Crooked Creektt's Gardens is still lush and g r e e n,
I felt compelled to design a Garden Inspired Tablescape.

Bringing a touch of the out~of~doors
within On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room,
called for a touch of splendor and my favorite black, white and green color scheme.

I purchased the most amazing black and white striped dishtowels
while visiting Nell Hill's Atchison Shop earlier this Spring.
I've been waiting for an opportunity to use them
to bring a touch of sophistication in one of my sumptuous tablescapes.

I began with a pristinely pressed and starched vintage white damask tablecloth.
I, also, steam pressed the tea towels.

Next,
I added the four black and white striped tea towels atop the tablecloth.
Placing and smoothly with my hands to position the entire center surface.

I adore how just a bit of the tea towels extends down off the Dining Room table!

Using my everyday white fine porcelain dinnerware
keeps our clean~up to a minimum.
Yet, one still has a feeling of indulgence while dining.

A whimsical, botanical salad / dessert plate atop our everyday white dinner plate
evokes the Garden Inspiration from beyond the patio doors.

The harmonious blending of these two patterns,
sets an eloquent tone for daily dining
in On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room as seen in the various rim shots.

Again,
I've used our everyday Oneida stainless flatware
combined with our clear bubble glass stemware.
The addition of the bee stemware beckons a sampling of whimsy to the setting.

The centerpiece components
mimic the profusion of vegetation beyond the patio doors.

Two faux boxwood toparies,
on opposite sides of a monochromatic bee skep,
and vintage lidded sugar and creamer
are embellishment enough for our centerpiece.

A simplistic black and white checked cloth napkin,
placed inside the terra cotta flower pot napkin rings,
adds an element of practicability
within the design of the Garden Inspired Tablescape.

A continuation of this Garden Inspired Tablescape
is evident within the design style of On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room Hutch.

When searching for inspiration for On Crooked Creektt's Dining Room,
I had only to look through the patio doors at my inspiring Gardens.

On Crooked Creektt,
it is my hope that this timely blessing
will continue to remain green a while longer.
